Slow Seasons

"Live like a local, not a visitor"

A writer came to us burned out. Not from work — from movement. Ten cities in two years. She wanted to stop. We found a stone farmhouse outside Lucca with no WiFi and a neighbour who brought eggs every morning. She stayed four weeks. On the last day, the neighbour cried. So did she. Belonging doesn't require a lifetime. Sometimes it only takes a month and a basket of eggs.

The Philosophy

Time to breathe. Long enough to belong.

Extended stays of 2-4 weeks in a single destination. We secure a residence—a villa in Tuscany, an apartment in Kyoto, a riad in Marrakech—and curate a rhythm of experiences that lets you truly inhabit a place. There's a profound difference between visiting somewhere and belonging there. Slow Seasons was born from a simple observation: the travelers who return most transformed are those who stayed long enough to have a routine—a morning coffee spot, a familiar face at the market, a sunset they watched evolve over weeks, not hours.

The Process

How It Works

01

Finding Your Home

We source extraordinary residences—not hotels, but homes. A converted monastery in Portugal, a modernist apartment overlooking Kyoto's temples, a trulli house in Puglia. Somewhere you can make your own.

02

Designing Your Rhythm

We create a loose framework of experiences spread across your stay: a cooking lesson here, a private tour there, but mostly space. Space to wander, to discover, to do nothing at all.

03

Local Connections

We introduce you to our network: the sommelier who'll become your wine guide, the artist whose studio is always open, the family whose Sunday lunch invitation extends to you.

04

Flexible Support

Our local concierge is a text away but never intrusive. Restaurant reservations, day trip suggestions, or absolute privacy—whatever you need, whenever you need it.

21 Nights

A Past Journey: Tuscan Autumn

Week 1
Settling In

Market day in Pienza, truffle hunting with a local family, pasta-making with a nonna, evening passeggiata becoming ritual

Week 2
Finding Rhythm

Day trips to Siena and Montalcino, private Brunello tasting, olive harvest participation, long lunches that stretched into dinner

Week 3
Belonging

The butcher knows their order, the café saves their table, the neighbor invites them to Sunday pranzo, tears at departure

Testimonials

Japan

"After 14 days in Kyoto, I stopped being a tourist. I knew which temple to visit at what hour, which izakaya had the best sake, which path through Gion was quietest at dusk. I wasn't visiting Japan—I was living there."

Italy

"We'd done the highlights of Italy three times. Slow Seasons gave us what we'd been missing: the Italy that exists between the monuments. The real Italy."

France

"By week two, the woman at the boulangerie smiled when I walked in. By week three, she had my order ready. That's when I understood what Slow Seasons was really about."

Bali

"Our kids didn't just see Bali—they made friends at the local school, learned to make offerings, surfed the same break every morning. They still FaceTime with their Balinese teacher."

Questions Answered

Frequently Asked

How is this different from renting an Airbnb myself?

The residence is just the beginning. We handle everything that transforms a rental into an experience: stocking your kitchen with local specialties before arrival, arranging introductions to artisans and locals, curating a calendar of experiences, and providing on-call concierge support throughout your stay.

What's the ideal duration?

We recommend a minimum of 14 nights to truly settle in, with 21 nights being the sweet spot. Some guests have stayed for entire seasons—and we've facilitated stays of up to 12 weeks.

Can I work remotely during my stay?

Absolutely. Many of our Slow Seasons travelers are location-independent professionals. We ensure reliable WiFi, comfortable workspaces, and a rhythm of experiences that complements rather than competes with work commitments.

Is this suitable for families?

Slow Seasons is particularly wonderful for families. Children adapt remarkably well to extended stays, and the experience of attending local classes, making neighborhood friends, and developing routines creates memories that last lifetimes.

What about housekeeping and maintenance?

Regular housekeeping is included, typically 2-3 times per week. Our local team handles any maintenance issues immediately, and we provide 24/7 support for emergencies.
