Zhangjiajie
Sandstone pillars rising into the clouds, the landscape that inspired Avatar.
Zhangjiajie's sandstone pillar forest defies belief: over 3,000 quartzite columns rising up to 200 metres from subtropical forest, wreathed in mist and connected by glass bridges and cliff-hugging walkways. This is the landscape that inspired James Cameron's Pandora, and in person it feels no less otherworldly.
We also reach the Avatar Hallelujah peaks by the Bailong elevator and the glass-bottomed grand canyon bridge, arriving via Zhangjiajie (DYG).
